Marcus and Deirdre Kearney opened Castleisland Tuition Centre in 2010 because they had difficulty finding supplementary learning supports for their own children.
Many families in Castleisland and surrounding towns had to travel long distances for high quality tuition. As well, not all tuition centres offered all subjects at primary and secondary school levels.
The Kearneys found that there was a void in Castleisland for supplementary education, so they tapped into the market, opening the first tuition centre in the town.
Since we opened our doors in August 2010, we have provided high quality supplementary education for primary school students and Junior and Leaving Certificate students.
We maintain high standards and we have received excellent feedback from our past students. Our students don’t only come from Kerry, they also come from neighbouring counties like Limerick and Cork.
Our small class sizes and experienced teachers ensure that every student receives maximum attention so they can develop confidence. We pride ourselves on our safe and friendly environment and students are always supervised.
We also offer one to one grinds upon request for students who need extra help.
Homework is regularly given and corrected promptly and students receive easy to read, detailed notes to help them better understand the different subjects.
Not only do we prepare students for written portions of the exams, we also prepare them for the oral (speaking) and aural (listening) portions of the exams.
Our timetable is flexible and we run classes in various subjects throughout the academic year. Every year, we offer an intensive supervised study session for the two-week Easter Break.
Subjects include both higher and ordinary level: English, Irish, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, French, and Business Studies.
