Maths Grinds

Our grinds are based on a new mathematics syllabus called Project Maths put in place by the Department of Education.

Project Maths is a revised syllabus for Junior and Leaving Cert Mathematics. The revised syllabi include changes in what students learn, how they learn, and how they will be assessed.

Students are provided with the opportunity to gain an understanding of and familiarity with several branches (strands) of mathematics, as well as developing their overall appreciation of the subject. This is done through choosing particular strands that have applications in everyday life, are useful in other disciplines, and provide a foundation for further education. The goal is making maths accessible to students at all levels.

The strands are:

  1. Probability and Statistics
  2. Geometry and Trigonometry
  3. Numbers
  4. Algebra
  5. Functions
